Specials traveled up to Cobham (Chelsea football clubs training ground) to defend there newly won Harold Lawrence challenge cup.
The first match saw specials come to a slow start and fall 6 goals down in 10 minutes. It’s a shame it was such a big goal difference as specials started taking shape and get 2 goals back including another goal from the halfway line from Nicholas Costello, which is becoming a tradition against Chelsea these days. The game went on and specials had quite a few good chances, but couldn’t come back into the match and lost 8-2.
Specials then took a break before facing Chelsea’s premiership team, with specials adding a couple of new players into the team and bringing on Grant Brooks who eventually decided to play for specials. Chelsea battled to the best of there ability to beat specials 12-0 with some real class football.
Chelsea’s championship team then came on to face specials. Specials appearing frustrated after their previous loss really went for this match and played some quality football that kept Chelsea from scoring, the only downside was that specials couldn’t capitalize up the other end and was unable to score as well, a great game ending in a 0-0 draw.
Specials and Chelsea then fought it out in a penalty shootout. Specials were very unfortunate as all there penalties were saved by the Chelsea keeper. Dave Barrett did his best in goal and was unlucky to be able to hit the ball out enough to save the penalty.
Although the results weren’t so great for specials they still showed such a great performance, with some players who have just started playing in the adult team. They played very professionally.

The Barn Dance on Saturday was a huge success and was enjoyed by over 80 people. Although the event was organised mainly as a social gathering we did manage to raise £450 at the same time.
A big thank you to The Athletic Club for having us again and an even bigger thank you to Pat and Colin King who did the music and calling free of charge.
